WHAT IS WRONG WITH NORMAL COMPRESSED AIR? WHY USE NITROTYRE™ NITROGEN?
OXYGEN MOLECULES CAUSE TYRE DEFLATION
Plain old compressed air is made up of 21% oxygen molecules and 78% nitrogen molecules. The oxygen molecules are 1/4 of the size of NITROTYRE™ nitrogen molecules. The only reason that a tyre loses between 1 and 6 psi per month (without the tyre having a puncture or a leaky valve) is because the oxygen molecules are so small, they simply leak out of the side walls of the tyre. Tyres that are inflated with NITROTYRE™high purity nitrogen stay inflated 6 times longer. This is because the NITROTYRE™ Nitrogen molecules are 4 times larger than the oxygen molecules and leakage is significantly reduced.
OXYGEN MOLECULES RUST THE SIDE WALLS OF THE TYRE, REDUCING THE TYRES LIFE
Compressed Air contains moisture and the side wall of the tyre contain steel. When the oxygen molecules leak out of the side walls of the tyre, they rust the steel, significantly reducing the tyres life. A tyre filled with compressed air that is 6 months old and has tread wear will not retain it's pressure to the same extent as a new tyre due to oxidation. Conversely the same tyre filled with NITROTYRE™ from new will retain pressure the same as when the tyre was first fitted.
OXYGEN MOLECULES CAUSE A CHANGE IN INFLATION WITH ANY CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE TYRE
Because oxygen contains moisture, any change in temperature within the tyre, causes a corresponding change in pressure or under and over inflation. This is normal heat expansion. The temperature within a tyre that contains oxygen continuously changes, depending upon the ambient outside temperature. This continuous change in pressure causes a change in the rolling resistance. The lower the temperature in the tyre, the lower the pressure, the higher the rolling resistance, and the higher the fuel economy and tyre wear. Importantly constant tyre pressure means improved predictability, safety and performance.
A tyre that is filled with NITROTYRE™ high purity nitrogen does not contain oxygen. The tyre stays inflated 6 times longer, sidewall oxidation is eliminated and the pressure remains constant, irrespective of temperature within the tyre. This ensures that the tyre is properly inflated at all times, minimizing tyre wear, maximizing fuel economy and optimizing performance.
